She revealed that since Sam entered prison in August 2023—first at the M.D.C. in Brooklyn, and now at a federal prison in San Pedro, California—he’s been keeping a journal, now more than 500 pages. She thinks it will one day be published, and she may be right. “It is equal parts a sociology of prison life, philosophical musings, and reflections on himself and the outside world he briefly walked largely in,” she wrote. “Sam is a wonderful writer as well as a deep thinker.”
